Locally, I have served as a representative in the bargaining unit for 15 years dating back to 2011 -- I joined the WRDSB in late 2010.  I have fulfilled duties in numerous roles, most proudly as CBC Chairperson, Treasurer, and Constitution Officer over the span of multiple years, while also serving as an Occasional Teacher representative.   I am currently serving as CBC Chairperson and Constitution Officer for our bargaining unit, as well as Constitution Officer for our district.

I was appointed as the interim Vice-President of the bargaining unit last year, where I additionally helped with PD day planning and political action events.  I have also served in other District and Provincial OSSTF capacities, as well as worked with our local union affiliates through the Together In Education organization every year for the past decade.  I am a long-standing active and contributing member of the Teachers' Executive.   

In terms of training, I have attended countless OSSTF conferences and workshops over the years, including AMPA (Annual Meeting of the Provincial Assembly), Summer Leadership, Protective Services Conferences (both regional and provincial), and through online Union Leadership Academy.  Key workshops have included grievances and arbitrations, bargaining and negotiation strategies, conflict resolution and mediation, understanding school board funding, sick leave provisions, and parliamentary procedures, among others.

I have extensive working knowledge of our local collective agreement, our governing constitutions, and our financial and day-to-day operations.

As a member of Teachers' Executive, I was instrumental in the creation and development of language for our Charitable Donation Policy, the Excellence in Occasional Teaching Award,  and two bargaining unit Officer positions including the Equity, Anti-Racism, and Anti-Oppression Officer and the new Member Engagement Officer.   As Constitution Officer, I have written language to revise our election procedures for Executive Officers and AMPA Representatives, as well as to update our Branch structures and definitions.  As Treasurer, I have been accountable for preparing annual budgets, tracking monthly income and expenses, renewing investments with EFG, and overseeing the transition of our accounts from WFCU to CIBC.  As an Occasional Teacher representative, I was instrumental in the implementation of the ability for part-time teachers and LTO's to teach 1 period of daily supply at a 1/3 rate to top up their day to 1.0 FTE.  I also initiated the ability for OT and LTO applicants to  self-identify on the basis of human rights on their Apply To Education job applications.  I regularly track and report on Occasional Teacher days worked and have lobbied quite strongly for a pause in new OT hiring and a reduction to the staggering size of the OT Roster.
